The 2026 track & field season will be remembered as one of the finest in Cypress Christian School history. From record-breaking performances at the district meet to two TAPPS state championships, the Warriors demonstrated determination, perseverance and excellence throughout the postseason.
District Success Sends 17 Warriors to Regionals
The postseason began at the TAPPS 5A District 4 Championships, where Warrior athletes delivered outstanding performances across two days of competition. Nearly every Cypress Christian School athlete recorded a personal best, reflecting months of hard work and dedication.
The district meet featured two new school records. Sierra Davey broke the school record in the 800-meter run, while the boys 4×200-meter relay set a new school record while qualifying for regionals as the top seed.
By the conclusion of the meet, 17 Warrior athletes had qualified for the TAPPS 5A South Regional Championships in San Antonio.

Warriors Shine on the State Stage
The season reached its unforgettable conclusion at the TAPPS State Track & Field Championships, where the Warriors brought home two state championships while continuing to rewrite the Cypress Christian School record book.
The boys 4×200-meter relay team of Ryu Tomita, Michael Turner, Gabe Pandosh and Dyson Zarro captured the TAPPS State Championship, setting a new school record of 1:29.29 in one of the fastest performances in program history.
Rachel Czagas also earned a TAPPS State Championship in the long jump, soaring 17 feet, 6.75 inches to claim the state title and cap an exceptional season.
A Season of Excellence
While the state championships highlighted the season, the success of the 2026 Warriors extended far beyond medals and records. Nearly every athlete achieved personal bests throughout the postseason, demonstrating the culture of hard work and continuous improvement that defines Cypress Christian School athletics.
“This team competed with incredible heart from the first meet of the season to the final event at state,” said Coach Williams. “Watching our athletes continue to improve, support one another and glorify God through their efforts made this an unforgettable season. I’m proud of every athlete who represented Cypress Christian School with excellence.”
