Cypress Christian School String Ensemble Earns Superior Ratings at TAPPS Solo & Ensemble

The Cypress Christian School String Ensemble showcased its musical excellence at the TAPPS Solo & Ensemble Competition on February 16, 2026, with every participating student earning Superior ratings during the event held at Lone Star College–Tomball.

Competing against talented student musicians from across Texas, the Warriors demonstrated exceptional preparation, technical skill and artistry through solo and ensemble performances.

Leading the way for the high school was Lydia Duphorne, who earned a Division I Superior Rating for her violin solo. Owen Zhang also received a Division I Superior Rating for his violin solo, and the duo teamed up to perform a violin duet that likewise earned a Superior rating.

Middle school musicians also represented Cypress Christian School with excellence. Annaleigh Mellor received a Superior rating for her violin solo, while Audrey Knight, Sophie Meador and Annaleigh Mellor earned a Superior rating for their violin trio performance.

The TAPPS Solo & Ensemble Competition provides student musicians the opportunity to perform before experienced adjudicators while receiving valuable feedback that helps them continue growing as performers.

Congratulations to Lydia, Owen, Annaleigh, Audrey and Sophie on representing Cypress Christian School with excellence. Their accomplishments are a testament to the strength of the school’s fine arts program and the commitment of its students to using their God-given talents to glorify Him.
