Our secondary art teacher, Mrs. Beth Brubaker, is retiring from teaching after almost a decade of service at CCS and 40 years of teaching art in Christian schools. Mrs. Brubaker’s significant contributions at Cypress Christian School will continue to bear fruit in the lives of her students for generations to come. She leaves behind a great legacy of excellent teaching and strong Christian character. Mrs. Brubaker helped her students find expression and self-confidence through art. Some discovered a new aspect of their talents while others found a new way to express emotions; still other students came across a new way to create and have fun. Mrs. Brubaker encouraged students to find their individuality through the expression of art and to ultimately use art to glorify God and share the truth and love of God.
Through Mrs. Brubaker’s excellent teaching, students throughout her tenure at CCS have excelled in ACSI and TAPPS yearly art competitions. Students have exhibited their work and been recognized at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Art in Spring as part of their student art contest. Secondary students have had work displayed at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art contest and in 2022 one of Mrs. Brubaker’s students had the distinction of being Gold Medal winner, receiving the highest auction amount and earning a $45,000 scholarship. This year, the art program won the TAPPS 4A State Championship. Throughout the past decade, Mrs. Brubaker has exemplified academic excellence as she has taught students in grades six through twelve with selfless energy and skill. We are grateful for Mrs. Brubaker’s years of service for the cause of Christ through investing in the lives of children and training the next generation of Warriors for the Kingdom.
As Mrs. Brubaker moves to a new portion of her journey, she is excited about being able to give energy and time to her own art pursuits and the opportunity to spend time with her beloved dogs and her wonderful husband. Although leaving her art classroom is bittersweet, Mrs. Brubaker trusts God’s leadership as she moves to a new season of life. She continues to pray for her students and looks forward to hearing how God continues to work faithfully through our school to change lives for eternity.
