Senior Track Athletes Compete in Prestigious Meet

Cypress Christian School had two track & field athletes who qualified to compete in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this past week, held at the University of Texas in Austin. This is a statewide event for high schools and colleges and student-athletes must qualify to compete. Due to COVID restrictions, the high school section has not been held the last two years, so we were excited to once again have the opportunity to register for this prestigious meet.

CCS entered several athletes in individual events with performances from this year’s events. These athletes’ accomplishments were measured against many others and only the top applicants were accepted into the meet. Seniors, Jackson Owen, Division 1-100 m dash - private and 1A-3A public schools and Abbie Hirth, high jump - all private and public schools, qualified and competed in the meet.

Jackson and Abbie represented CCS well on Friday, March 25. Jackson qualified for the finals, which were run on Saturday, March 26, and he earned fourth place honors with his best time of the season, 10.75 seconds. Abbie tied for fifth place with a 5’6” jump. Winning height was 5’8”. We are proud of their accomplishments, as well as all of our track & field team.

Come see us as we compete at our home meets on April 7 and 14, and then again as we host the district meet on April 19 and 21. You will be amazed at the talent displayed. CCS has 73 high school students competing in track & field this year.
