The Cypress Christian Lady Warriors softball team won its season opener Tuesday night, beating the Westside Wolves 8 to 4 on a chilly night at CCS. Â
The Warriors lineup came back from a 4-0 deficit, scoring seven runs in a decisive fourth inning. Sophomore shortstop Macie Dammeyer got the scoring started with a clutch two-run single to centerfield. Junior Chloe Roberson delivered a line drive to left field to tie the game 4-4. Junior Lucy Davis then put the Warriors in front to stay with a two-run double over the centerfielder’s head, Davis’ second double of the night.
Davis pitched a complete game, giving up just four hits and striking out 10 batters. Roberson, Senior Makaylah Williams and Junior Maura Stricklin delivered outstanding plays in the field to back Davis, as she held the Wolves lineup without a hit over her last four innings for the win.
The Warriors play their next game at home on Tuesday, February 15, against First Baptist Christian Academy-Pasadena. Game time is 6 p.m.
