God gave each of us unique gifts and abilities and He asks us to use those gifts to further His kingdom. I Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whatever we do, do it all for the glory of God.” This applies to our family life, our school life and life as a cross country runner. The famous Olympic athlete Eric Liddle said, “I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me fast. When I run – I feel His pleasure.”
God gave some of us the amazing opportunity to be runners at Cypress Christian School and when we run to the best of our ability, encourage our teammates and our competition and give God the glory when we are all finished – we are running “for a purpose.”
- COMPETITION – fiercely pursue winning against myself and opponents
- UNITY – be one with the team and its purpose
- DISCIPLINE – earn success by training myself toward perfection
- INTEGRITY – do the right thing always because it is the right thing
- GRATITUDE – be thankful in every opportunity
Assistant Coach, Burke Wilson, says, “The CCS Cross Country program is not only focused on developing successful endurance athletes, but building character into the lives of young men and women who will go on to impact the state, nation and world for Jesus Christ. We are a tight-knit community committed to encouraging one another and supporting each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.”
