Tara Karnes

OVERVIEW

Mrs. Tara Karnes serves as a high school English teacher at Cypress Christian School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Liberal Arts with a concentration in English from the University of St. Thomas. She holds Texas teaching certifications in English language arts and reading (ELAR) and English as a second language (ESL).

Mrs. Karnes brings extensive experience teaching high school English as well as serving as an adjunct college English professor. Throughout her career, she has taught a wide range of courses, including on-level, Pre-AP, AP and dual credit. Her experience at both the high school and college levels allows her to prepare students for the rigor and expectations of postsecondary education while helping them grow as readers, writers, communicators and critical thinkers. She has also served in leadership roles, sponsored student organizations and taught students with a wide range of academic backgrounds and abilities.

Mrs. Karnes is passionate about creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences where students feel welcomed, challenged and supported. She believes strong relationships, open communication, a growth mindset and perseverance are essential to student success and encourages students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes and become confident, lifelong learners.
