Parent Service Organization (PSO)

The Parent Service Organization (PSO) is an enrichment program eager to partner with volunteers who are excited to share their God-given gifts and talents with Cypress Christian School. Volunteers are essential throughout the school year to support the mission and directly impact the lives of students, faculty, staff and administrators.

Whether you are a seasoned family or brand new to the school, have a little time to give or a lot of time to give, there is a place for you to serve your fellow Warriors. Below are just a few of the areas our families and friends can lend a hand.

Volunteer Opportunities

Academic Meets

Assist faculty/staff with various academic meets throughout the year (speech, math, art, spelling bee). Details to be announced closer to event date(s). Please indicate your interest(s) and someone will contact you when the planning stages begin for the various events.

Administrative Assistance | Office Help

Assist office staff with mailings, filing, phones, etc. Someone will contact you as needs arise.

Admissions Events

The Admissions Team utilizes volunteers at various events throughout the school year as we present our school to prospective and new families. Please consider volunteering in the following areas:

• CCS 101
• K-12 Preview Events
• Kindergarten Preview
• Parent Mentor Group
• Sixth Grade Preview
• Student Visitor Day

Blue & White Night

Blue & White Night is an evening of fun and fellowship as we dedicate the new school year to the Lord. Please consider volunteering next year. The service opportunities vary year-to-year but help is always needed.

Box Tops for Education

Collect Box Tops from teachers and drop box areas and mail them for credit.

Elementary Sports

Coaching opportunities are available for K-5 fall soccer, 4th & 5th grade basketball and spring baseball/softball through the West Houston Christian Sports Association. All coaches must be interviewed and submit information for background check. Please indicate your interest(s) and someone will contact you to schedule the interview.

Faculty & Staff Luncheons

Lunch is provided by volunteers to faculty, staff and administrators to show appreciation for the time they give to our students. This is a tremendous blessing and treasured by all! Please indicate your level of interest(s) and someone will contact you to determine your availability and confirm placement.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Week

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Week is designed to show the awesome faculty, staff and administration team how much they are appreciated! Look for information coming soon.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day

Grandparents and Special Friends Day is scheduled for February 22, 2018. Volunteers are needed for sign-in, name tags, refreshments, photography assistance, etc. Someone will contact you prior to the event with details and to determine your area of interest.

Handy Man Service

CCS will provide a well-maintained, safe environment for volunteers to create, produce and inspire others through the handyman / maintenance ministry for various jobs on campus. Volunteers should have the following:

• Ability to work with minimal supervision performing general handyman tasks
• Experience with maintenance
• Be physically able to move and lift items
• Be prompt and thorough in completing assigned tasks
• Be dependable and cooperative
• Work well independently or with a team
• Be accountable for completing tasks

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization established to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, understand business and economics and be better prepared for the workforce. Each classroom needs one volunteer to partner with the teacher and present the business curriculum one time per week, over a 5-week period. Someone will contact you with details and equip you for success in the classroom!

Library Assistance

Library volunteers are needed occasionally to shelve books and to assist with book fairs. Please indicate your interest(s) and someone will contact you as library opportunities become available.

Lost & Found

Weekly volunteers are needed to organize the lost and found items in the West Gym Foyer for secondary students (grades 6-12). Someone will contact you to determine your availability and add you to the schedule.

Parking Ministry

Parking volunteers are needed to assist with parking for special events. Please indicate your willingness to wear an orange vest and park cars. Someone will contact you as needs arise. Training will be provided.

Photography

Volunteer photographers are always appreciated! Please indicate your interest and someone will contact you on how you can share your CCS photos and alert you of special events where photography is needed.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer Warriors are necessary for our school to exist as we strive to fulfill the mission of academic excellence and biblical values. Please join us in daily prayer for:

• Faculty and Staff
• The Administration
• Current and Future School Families and Students
• Board of Directors
• Facilities
• Fellow Christian Schools / Local Churches

We will plan to meet as a group December 4, 2017 and April 9, 2018 for fellowship, praise reports and prayer requests. Location to be announced at a later date.

Preschool Deliveries

Help us get the word out about CCS! We partner with 25+ preschools in our area and need help delivering CCS information monthly. This is a one-hour commitment each month.

Run-4-Fun

Run-4-Fun is a fundraiser for K-5 students. Volunteers are needed to tally pledge forms as well as assist runners on race day. Please indicate your interest(s) and someone will contact you in September with Run-4-Fun details.
