Veterans Day 2017
The annual chapel to honor those who have served our country in the military is always a special day at Cypress Christian School. On Friday, November 10, CCS students and faculty assembled in the new East Gym to welcome family members, guests and veterans to our annual Veterans Day Chapel.
The chapel was opened with a rousing rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, performed by the high school choir followed by the formal Posting of the Colors by CCS boy scouts Daniel Macune, Paul Carpenter, Tyler
CCS Executive Director, Mr. Stephen Novotny, a veteran, who served with the United States Army welcomed guests to this special event and spoke of the importance of remembering those who have served and are currently serving our country. Following Mr. Novotny’s remarks, the audience enjoyed a performance by members of Mrs. Tania Overton’s elementary music classes featuring a medley of patriotic tunes with hand chimes.
The special speaker of the day was Lt. Col. Mark Martin, USA, retired. LTC Martin retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of distinguished active duty service, including commands in a wide variety of units around the world. The morning concluded with the formal Retiring of the Colors and a prayer of Thanksgiving led by High School Principal Jeff Mudrow.
