What is Tribal Competition?
Our tribal competition is equivalent to Field Day at other schools. It is run as both an individual and team event. This event is held to promote inter-grade camaraderie and to develop an awareness of what it is like to be part of a team.
Each child is assigned a tribe (team) when they first enter school at CCS. They will remain with this team until they move on to the next level. The teams are divided into the tribes (sons) of Israel. Each tribe member competes to earn awards individually and points for their team. As a finale to the competition, each tribe competes in the annual Tug-of-War tournament. In this event, the tribe competes together at the same time and includes all students in grades K-5.
The events are named after events during the exodus of Israel from Egypt. Each event is demonstrated during P.E. so that students have seen the event before the actual competition.
If you have further questions about the origin or structure of the event, please email Stephanie Hirth or call her at 281.469.8829.
