Grandparents & Special Friends Day

On Friday, February 17, 2023, CCS celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends Day. This is always an exciting day for our elementary students. Hundreds of grandparents and special friends were welcomed with coffee and breakfast, a special welcome and greeting from President, Dr. Jeff Potts. During the chapel service in honor of CCS grandparents and special friends, the elementary grade levels each performed for their special guests.
Students hosted their grandparents and special friends in various stations throughout the campus where they were able to have a professional photograph taken, visit classrooms, meet Wanda the Warrior, paint a cookie, enjoy the playground and receive a personalized gift as a thank you from their grandchild for coming to this special event.
Our personalized gifts this year were a collaboration between our technology teacher and our art teacher. Students in grades 3-5 used a program called Cookiecad (like Tinkercad) to create cookie cutters and cookie stamps that reminded them of their grandparents. We used our 3D printers to print these out. They then went to our art teacher, where students chose the stamp or cookie cutter that reminded them of their grandparents and used them to cut or stamp clay. These clay pieces were then painted in art class and turned into magnets as a fun keepsake for our grandparents.
Thank you to everyone who joined our elementary students for a very fun and memorable morning.
