Students in the CCS National Art Honor Society recently traveled to Reach Unlimited Learning Activity Center in Cypress, TX, which provides quality support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
NAHS students, led by their president Chris McKnight, enjoyed making tissue paper stained glass art and visiting and sharing stories with about thirty people from their community training program. They also got to see where Reach members make their art from recyclable materials, and the group enjoyed a tour of the glass making shop as well as the gift shop where Reach residents sell what they make.
NAHS members made a lot of new friends and many of the students would like to return during the summer to volunteer as a result of this educational and enjoyable experience.
NAHS members that attended were: Chris McKnight, Olivia Crozier, Lindsay Webster, Frankie Kluckman, Victoria Davies, Daniel Moore, Nathan Frye, Shannah Hannahs, Joelle Rodriguez, Gracie Garza, Allison Thompson, McKayla Lira, Jenna Fox, Madelynn Beckman, Allison Hubbard, Audrey Floyd, Chris Shadle, Gabby Vasek and April Nimri.
