New High School STEM Courses Added for 2017-2018

June 22, 2017

Academic Excellence is not achieved without constantly reviewing our curriculum, looking to the horizon for new trends and opportunities and seeking to offer the most relevant courses in our ever-changing world. As a result, CCS will be offering several new high school electives to bolster our curriculum in the world of STEM. STEM is the collaborative learning environment that brings together the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. It is a rapidly growing area of curriculum at the secondary level and CCS is excited to be partnering with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) to offer three new courses for the 2017-2018 school year. PLTW has developed a full STEM curriculum and will provide CCS teachers with materials and training that they need to build our academic programs in these areas. The resources provided by PLTW coupled with the professional and teaching experience of the CCS faculty will result in dynamic new learning opportunities for our students.

CCS will offer the following three classes at the high school level next year with the goal to expand these courses in the future.

1. Introduction to Engineering Design

2. Computer Science Essentials

3. Principles of Biomedical Science
