The Cypress Christian varsity cheerleaders met bright and early on Thursday, July 21, 2016, and headed into town to serve at the Houston Food Bank.
Their first shift of the day consisted of assembling breakfast and snack bags that would be delivered throughout the city of Houston. These bags would provide food for children at neighborhood recreation centers. They assembled enough breakfast bags to feed 2,805 children and enough snack bags to feed 3,585 children.
Upon completion of the bags, they began their second shift of sorting through donated food. After checking each expiration date, the food was sorted into designated bins according to the food type. At the end of the shift, at total of over 40,000 pounds of food had been sorted through.
It was a full morning of service with the Houston Food Bank and the cheerleaders look forward to more opportunities to serve their community.
