The CCS boys' and girls' golf teams competed in the TAPPS 4A South Regional Tournament on Tuesday, April 25, at Quail Valley Country Club's El Dorado course. The Warriors were represented by teams of five boys and five girls who fought the windy conditions and displayed great attitude and sportsmanship throughout.
The girls team, led in scoring by sophomore Kara Otts (who placed fourth overall), qualified for the TAPPS 4A State Golf Tournament. The team of girls placed fourth in the tournament. The state tournament will be held on May 1 - 2 in Waco, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course, where the golfers will play 36 holes in two days. Also competing for the Lady Warriors were junior Madelynn Beckman and sophomores Charlotte Achterkirch (who placed 9th overall), Melanie Alvarez, and Emily Nicholson.
The boys team, led in scoring by junior Noah Lee, unfortuantely was not able to qualify for the state tournament. The team was also represented by senior Michael Pogson, junior Nathaniel Richardson, and sophomores Jason Hall and Jacob Hotchkiss. Although the boys' season is over, the future looks promising with this being the first time in many years where a CCS team of five qualified for the regional tournament.
