This past Saturday, the high school cross country team traveled to Katy for a race at Faith West Academy. As the season moves steadily towards a conclusion at the TAPPS state championships on October 29, the intensity level of the daily workouts has increased significantly. Prior to the race, Coach Mudrow told his team, “Our practices have been tough the past two weeks and it is going to pay off today with some amazing times!” The Warrior athletes embraced the weeks of increased mileage with seven runners setting a season-best record and 10 runners setting a new career personal record. The Warriors were led by seniors Landen Overton, who finished in the top 20, and Emma Muehlenbrock. Next Saturday the cross country team will compete at the St. John’s Ramble at TC Jester Park. This will be the last race prior to the District and State Championships.
