In the 2017-2018 school year, the boys athletic teams at CCS had an unprecedented accomplishment in capturing three state titles. Football, baseball and boys track & field dominated the TAPPS competition to earn the right to be called state champions. This accomplishment was honored on Wednesday, February 13 on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives by CCS parent and State Representative, Dr. Tom Oliverson.
Executive Director Stephen Novotny was accompanied by Head Baseball Coach David Swan, Head Football Coach Jacob Spenn and three players from those teams: Collin Tate, Cory Chapman and Jackson Landrum. They were all present on the floor of the Texas House as the resolutions were read by Representative Oliverson. Coach Spenn said, "It was a once in a lifetime moment to be on the floor of the Texas House, and amazing to the think that the great State of Texas just recognized the accomplishments of our CCS students last year." Representative Oliverson presented each member of the football team with a copy of the resolution last winter and will be providing copies to the school for the other sports as well.
