TAPPS State Art Competition 2018

TAPPS state art competition was held at the Waco Convention Center on Monday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 10 for all divisions (1A-6A) in the state of Texas. In the 4A division, 23 schools competed with 488 entries in 19 different categories of art. Our CCS artists did well, receiving seven medals overall.

Artists that had work entered and placed:

Drawing Black & White: Gabby Kostecki, Marc Coates and Tessa Bodukoglu

Drawing Color: Brittany Hough, Nathan Frye and Taylor Mohr

Communication Design: Lauren Muehlenbrock

Computer Rendered Art: Brittany Hough received an Honorable Mention

Painting: Aubri Garrett and Jillian Welch

2D Mixed Media: Emily Ellisor, Jillian Welch and Molly Mitton

Photography Black & White: Tori Davies and Gabby Kostecki

Photography Color: Emily Ellisor, Tori Davies and Grace Howren received 5th place

Sculpture: Aubri Garrett, Marie Xideris and Marc Coates received 7th place

Relief: Mallorie Kostak received 4th place and John Macune received 6th place

 

The following students participated in on-site events in Waco and had only two hours to complete their artwork for judging.

On-Site Drawing:  Aubri Garrett, Jillian Welch and McKayla Lira

Seek and Sketch Black & White:  ​​​​​​​Gabby Kostecki and McKayla Lira received 4th place

Seek and Sketch Color:  ​​​​​​​Jillian Welch and Aubri Garrett received 8th place

 

Great job at state, as it was the first time for many of these artists!
