As part of their budget project, senior students created meal plans for a week of meals that they would eat during a week of college. The students then created a shopping list of ingredients to make those meals. They walked the aisles of Kroger to find the cost of both foods and household cleaning necessities. After determining the cost of the meals, they compared it to the cost of eating out at restaurants or fast food places for an entire week. The budget project is intended to increase students' knowledge of the financial responsibility of living on their own and increasing their financial independence.
