Just before and after Spring Break, the sixth-grade Warriors researched and learned all about Ancient Greece. Students were sorted into groups to compete among the classes in both daily academic tasks and Olympic-style athletic events. While modifications had to be made from past Greek Festivals, students enjoyed the spirit of competition while throwing a javelin (curtain rod), tossing a discus (floppy frisbee), completing a standing long jump, running a 100M race and mastering thumb wrestling. The CCS Pentathlon events were truly a site to behold! The unit of study culminated with an amazing Greek feast provided by our fabulous parent volunteers. We even had a few students brave enough to don some makeshift togas.
