CCS fourth-graders had a great trip to an off-campus lab experience at Little Beakers on October 22. Students donned their lab coats and safety glasses, and briefly reviewed lab rules before starting the one-hour hands-on lab session. Little Beakers lab assistants then gave step-by-step instructions while providing interesting facts and asking questions as they assisted our students in carrying out their experiments. The students created two polymers (a glowing slime and fake snow that they were able to take home with them), followed by a colorful acid/base reaction (baking soda and vinegar) and then a rocket experiment. Lastly, a volunteer was chosen from each class to help the lab assistant explode a bottle of soda using Mentos candies. Our students had a great time exploring different concepts in science, and creating fun things with new experiments!
