Dr. Jeffrey D. Potts, Ed.D
Executive Director

Dr. Potts has over 20 years experience as a classroom teacher, coach and administrator. At previous schools, he has a proven track record of significantly improving the school's financial footing while operating on two campuses; implementing systems to increase re-enrollment rates and leading the school through ACSI/AdvancedED accreditation. He was able to triple the merit-based college scholarships offered to graduating seniors during his tenure. Seeking to ensure graduates are better prepared to take on leadership roles in college and beyond, Dr. Potts began a partnership with Student Leadership University whereby he was able to take select students on international experiences to Jerusalem and Amman, Jordan. Dr. Potts has presented as a keynote speaker both nationally and internationally, is a published author and has previously served as a church elder and small group Bible study leader for over 10 years.

Mr. Craig Cleveland
Dean of Students

Mr. Cleveland has faithfully served at Cypress Christian School since 2003. In his role as Dean of Students, Mr. Cleveland oversees all disciplinary matters for secondary students (grades 6-12). He is known for being a Godly mentor and encouraging students to be the best that they can be. Additionally, he assists the middle school and high school principals with campus logistics, student accountability and maintaining a positive, safe, Christ-like environment that is conducive for learning. Dr. Ryan Berens
High School Principal

Dr. Berens brings 17 years of educational experience to our school. He has previously held roles as Coordinator of Innovative Learning and Instructional Technology for the Georgia Department of Education. He also formerly served as Coordinator of Instructional Learning for a private independent school in Louisiana, where he implemented a 1-to-1 iPad program. The past five years, Dr. Berens has served at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas, where he led faculty integration, supervised the Chapel and House System, led the e-learning program and served pedagogical/professional development roles with faculty all through his role as Assistant Middle School Principal. 

Dr. Berens lives as an example of Christian faith and brings an elite blend of pedagogical training, technological innovation and spiritual development with nearly two decades of leadership experience. His spiritual and professional calling overlap as shown in his mixed portfolio of educational leadership. Along with strong student, family and faculty guidance, Dr. Berens specializes in Christian growth and development for the whole community to better enable them to lead as the next generation of leaders.

Mr. Kris Hogan
director oF culture | head football coach

Kris Hogan has over 24 years of educational experience as a teacher, coach, administrator and athletic director. Coach Hogan is committed to athletic excellence in both girls and boys sports. During his coaching tenure, he has seen teams capture 18 state championships in multiple sports, including football, track, baseball, softball, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys basketball, girls basketball and swim. As a coach, Hogan has been voted Coach of the Year six times at the regional or state level. He has also been the recipient of the National Sportsman of the Year Award presented by AT&T and multiple-time recipient of the Character in Coaching Award.

In addition to serving as Athletic Director for CCS, Coach Hogan is the Head Varsity Football Coach. As a Head Football Coach over the past 20 years, Hogan's teams have reached the State semi-finals a remarkable 60% of the time. In the past six years alone, his teams have averaged 10 wins per season, won the TAPPS Division II State Championship and appeared in 11 playoff games.

In his role as Athletic Director, Coach Hogan’s goal is to equip Christians and develop the next generation of leaders while partnering with like-minded parents.

Mrs. Marsha Martin
Athletic Director | Head Girls Basketball and Track Coach

Coach Martin has served CCS since 1996. Her love for the students of Cypress Christian is evident in her roles as Athletic Director, teacher, coach and friend. Her credentials and experience are as follows:

Mrs. Iva Nell Rhea
Middle School Principal

Mrs. Rhea has been affiliated with CCS in various roles since 1986. Mrs. Rhea has a special interest in and love for middle school students and enjoys seeing God work in them to produce young men and women of strong faith who can engage the world for Christ. Her credentials and experience are as follows:

Mrs. Joy Bezner
Elementary School Principal

Mrs. Bezner brings extensive experience as a teacher, special education specialist and administrator in both private and public schools to her role as Elementary Principal. Mrs. Bezner loves using the experiences and gifts that God has given her to motivate and encourage teachers and students, and she feels incredibly blessed to serve at Cypress Christian School. Her credentials include:

Dr. Christopher Witschonke
Dean of Instructional Development

Dr. Witschonke is a proven Christian servant and educational leader. For five years, Dr. Witschonke served on faculty with the University of Houston-Downtown teaching and training teachers and undergraduate college students majoring in education. Prior to this, he spent ten years as a secondary classroom teacher, distinguishing himself as an innovative educator who knew how to successfully teach and reach young people. Dr. Witschonke serves at Second Baptist Church as a deacon and as a volunteer in children’s and youth ministry.

Mrs. Angie Ramirez
Admissions Director

Mrs. Ramirez has served in various capacities at CCS since 2005. Mrs. Ramirez states: “My job at Cypress Christian School is to clearly communicate the mission of the school to prospective families. As I have opportunity to get to know the families, I must discern if there is a spiritual match, an academic match, and a behavior match for the family and for the school.” Ramirez represents CCS through the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce and promotes public relations efforts by giving individual tours of the campus, staging preview nights and student visitor days, organizing grade-specific events and working one-on-one with families as they navigate the admissions process.

Mrs. Donna Rhodes
Business Manager

Mrs. Donna Rhodes, since coming to CCS in 1998, has used her vast experience and education to manage the school finances.

Mr. David Swan
Director of Operations | Head Baseball Coach

Mr. Swan joined the CCS team in 2012 and oversees both the development and operations functions of the school. He has over 15 years of business management experience, focusing on designing, managing and improving key business processes with companies in a variety of industries. Mr. Swan is a certified Six Sigma advisor, specializing in strategic planning, implementation, training, coaching and driving project closure. He has also written and presented papers on training and has co-authored articles for various engineering journals.
