Academics -  Diplomas

High school students follow a rigorous academic schedule of eight (8) periods per day. Whether their interests lie in the sciences, math, literature, writing, foreign language, or the arts, there are many options for high school student depending on the academic goals of the student.  High school courses are developed to prepare students for success at the college level.

If your student plans to go to a four-year college, a junior college, or technical school, he/she must decide on the best course selection and type of diploma for entrance to the college of their choice. Check the admission requirements of the colleges your student is interested in attending. You can do this by calling the Admissions Office at those schools or visiting their websites. If your student wants to be a student of distinction or be in competition for valedictorian, there are additional advanced courses required.

Please download the following document which provides a comprehensive guide to high school academics including types of diplomas offered and graduation requirements for each, academic recognition, course descriptions, curriculum guide, grading scale, honors, dual credit, community service requirement, college entrance exams and NCAA elibibility requirements.
