You Be the Chemist Competition

Every year, CCS participates in the “You Be the Chemist” competition sponsored by EXPO Chemical Company. This year, the School Qualifier Challenge took place on December 9, 2011 with our 8th graders along with two 7th graders taking a written chemistry test that was developed by EXPO.

The following are the CCS winners of the School Qualifier Challenge:

  • 1st place - Amber Dingman received a trophy and $100 savings bond.
  • 2nd place - Lizzie Gwyn received a trophy and a $75 savings bond
  • 3rd place - Vynna Chitolie received a trophy and a $50 savings bond and
  • 4th place - Kory Yankowski received a trophy and $25 gift card

First and second place winners, Amber and Lizzie, will go to the next level competition called the Houston Local Challenge, which will be held on February 25, 2012 at IT’Z. Winners from this challenge will compete at the State Competition which will also be held in Houston in April at the Museum of Natural Science.
