Warriors "Boys of Summer" Win Regional Championship

May 10, 2011

The Warriors baseball team went to Austin to win...and win they did.  They hit the cover off the ball, showed a dominant defense and added stellar pitching performances while pounding Austin St. Dominic Savio 10-1 and earning the title of Regional Champions for the second year in a row.

The Warriors came out of the gate swinging and scored three runs in the first inning on a double by Joshua Martinez and a sacrifice fly by Jase Clark.  They scored three more in the third inning on a homerun by Jordan Gray and doubles by Joshua Martinez and Jacob Hicks.  Adding to the huge lead in the fourth were Jacob Hicks and Jase Clark who each knocked in a run.  The Warriors closed out the game with two more runs in the sixth on a double by Martinez and an rbi single by Jack Mitchell.

On offense, the Warriors spread the power around with Joshua Martinez serving up three hits and one RBI; Jack Mitchell had one hit and two RBIs; Jase Clark had one hit and three RBIs; Grayson Beck added a double; Jacob Hicks continued his extra-base hitting ways with a double and 1 RBI; and Jordan Gray smashed an inside-the-park homerun.

Hitting was not the only bright spot for the Warriors, as Joshua Martinez pitched five full innings and gave up only three hits and fanned four St. Dominic Savio batters.  Jordan Gray took the mound in the sixth and shut their opponent down, giving up only two hits while striking out three.

Next up will be the team from Bullard Brook Hill on Friday, May 13 at Waco ISD field and the State Championship game will be Saturday, May 14 at University of Mary-Hardin Baylor.

Congratulations, Warriors-Regional Champions!
