Warriors Advance in Playoffs

Jacob Spenn

November 17, 2011

The Warriors over powered All Saints on Saturday night to advance to the second round of the TAPPS State Playoffs. All Saints did jump out to an early lead with a kickoff returned for a touchdown but the Warriors settled down and limited the high powered rushing attack of All Saints to just 40 yards.  The defense was almost perfect on the night as it never allowed the Trojans into the redzone.  Miles Breman had an interception and recovered a fumble while Dan Crozier caused a fumble and intercepted a pitch in a spectacular play that set up a Warrior TD.

The wind added a new challenge to the passing game so the Warriors turned to the ground game as Jason Groll rushed for 154 and Ben Mitchell had 103 yards and two TDs.  The wind did not keep Ben Mitchell from finding Andrew Galloway for his twelfth TD catch of the season. Kyle Moon caught a pass out of the backfield for his first touchdown catch of the season. Another offensive highlight was when Austin Barton connected on a 40 yard field goal that was into the wind and another from 52.

The Warriors will continue their march through the playoffs as a favorite against the Texas School for the Deaf in Giddings on Saturday night.  The Warriors have not faced TSD since the 2009 season when they defeated them 33 to 24.
