Ten Commandments Memorization Challenge
January 12, 2011
Shown in photo are 10 of the 42 students who met the Ten Commandments Challenge: Courtlyn Cameron (K), Moriah Brown (1st), Troy Womack (1st), Melanie Garcia (2nd), Zachary Pelham (2nd), Joshua Storey (2nd), Lauren Velez (3rd), Meredith Sanders (3rd), Sophia Slabic (4th), and Garrett Velez (4th).
There was a time in American history when the Ten Commandments were posted in every school! At CCS, we wish to continue this heritage by emphasizing to our students the importance of the Ten Commandments.
In November of 2010, Elementary Principal Robert White challenged the entire elementary school to memorize the Ten Commandments. The students were given until January 7, 2011 to recite them from memory to their teacher. On January 12, 2011, the students who completed the challenge were recognized during chapel. They also received a surprise treat at lunch for their efforts.
The following students successfully memorized and recited the Ten Commandments to their teachers by January 7, 2011. Great job, students!
