Jason Groll named Offensive MVP

Five seniors from Cypress suited up for the Sport Marketing Experts Bowl on Saturday, December 10 at Fort Bend Christian.  Austin Barton, Miles Breman, Jason Groll, Travis McGrath, and Phillip McCurry played for the South and were joined by Coach Spenn who called the defensive in the game.  The South team had three practices leading up to the game but played like they had known each other for years.  The defense forced 7 turnovers including an interception by Breman who also recorded several big hits in the game.  Jason Groll started and ended the scoring with a 30 yard touchdown catch in the first quarter and a five yard touchdown run behind an offensive line anchored by Phillip McCurry and Travis McGrath in the forth.  For his efforts, Jason Groll was named the Offensive MVP for the South squad.  Austin Barton kicked off and just missed on a couple of long field goals.  The cold weather and a new holder made it a tough night to kick.  In all it was a great experience for Coach Spenn and the players.  It allowed these five great seniors to finish out their high school football careers with a win.  Click here for more details about the game.  Click here for pictures from the game.
