Homecoming Court 2012

Congratulations to the 2012 Homecoming Court. CCS recognized the following students who were selected by their classmates and who exemplify outstanding Christian character and leadership. These students are also active in many different activities at Cypress Christian School.This year's theme was “Mission Possible” and the scripture comes from Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here I am. Send me!”

FRESHMEN
Emily Fredrickson: This is Emily’s fifth year at Cypress Christian. She is a member of Foundry United Methodist Church and is in the VBS program and Children’s ministry. Emily is also involved at CCS as a member of the Ambassador Council and participates in cheerleading, soccer, softball, and track. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 1:1 because it shows how to walk in the way of the Lord and what to do and not to do. Emily says, “CCS is like one big family for me. I just feel at home. I love the Christian environment and I would like for the faculty to know how much I appreciate what they do for all of us.”

Conner Orrick: This is Conner’s third year at Cypress Christian. He is a member of Jersey Village Baptist Church and is involved in VBS and D-Now. Conner is also involved at CCS in football and track. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, because it encourages him to move past failure, injuries, and tough times. Conner says the best part of Cypress Christian is the people, coaches, and teachers.

SOPHOMORES
Summer Galloway: This is Summer’s tenth year at Cypress Christian. She is a member of Redeemer Bible Church and is involved in the youth group there. Summer is also involved at CCS and plays on the volleyball, softball, and soccer teams. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28 because it reminds her that everything happens for a reason. Summer says the best part of Cypress Christian is how encouraging her teammates and coaches are. Summer would like to say, “thank you to my amazing family and friends for everything. I don’t know what I would do without them. But most of all I want to thank my Savior, Jesus Christ, for everything He has blessed me with.”

Zach Usry: This is Zach’s fourth year at Cypress Christian. He is a member of The Met where he is involved in Life Groups, local, and international mission work. At Cypress, Zach is a member of National Honor Society and the Ambassador Council and plays on the Warrior football team. His favorite Bible verse is 1John 3:16 because it shows how much we should be willing to love others, as Christ loves us. Zach says the size of CCS is like a large family where everyone knows each other and that is what he likes best about Cypress. Zach says he is honored to represent the sophomore class.

JUNIORS
Katie Moore: This is Katie’s twelfth year at Cypress. She is a member of The Met where she is a small group leader for fifth grade girls. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 because it reminds her of how she should show others the same love that Christ has shown her. What Katie likes best about CCS is “the encouraging environment and the teachers and coaches who strive not only to help me grow in knowledge, but also in wisdom and understanding of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Shihao Zhou: This is Shihao’s second year at Cypress Christian. He is a member of Christ the Redeemer where he is involved in Catcherman in Christ the Redeemer (RCIA class). Shihao is also a member of the CCS National Honor Society, Ambassador Council,and baseball team. His favorite Bible verse is John 3:16 because God gave us His only son to die for us. What Shihao likes best about Cypress is that “it is like a family and people treat each other with respect.” One more thing Shihao would like for you to know is, “I love AMERICA!!!”

SENIOR QUEEN CANDIDATES
Sarah Coffman: This is Sarah’s first year at Cypress Christian. She is a member of Good Shepard United Methodist Church and is involved in the UM Army as well as VBS. At CCS, Sarah has jumped right in with volleyball and yearbook and plans to play softball in the spring. Sarah’s favorite Bible verse is James 1:7 she says “it gives me comfort in God’s work through our lives and His connection with us.” What she likes best about CCS is the sense of family and that we all share the same beliefs. Sarah would like for everyone to know, “I am so honored to be nominated and that even though I have only been here this year I feel like it’s been a lifetime. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed.”

Lauren Echols: This is Lauren’s thirteenth year at Cypress Christian. She is a member of Copperfield Church. Lauren enjoys her volunteer work and “running for a cause.” At CCS, she is a member of National Honor Society, Ambassador Council, and cheerleading and golf. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 16:3, commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. Lauren loves the friendly Christian environment and all of the teachers who really care about something bigger than a grade. Lauren says “thanks to my parents, family, and friends who have supported me through everything I’ve done and through all my struggles and victories in life.”

Shannen Longridge: This is Shannen’s seventh year at Cypress Christian. Shannen is a member of Copperfield Church where she teaches a fourth and fifth grade Sunday school class. She is a member of National Honor Society and Ambassador Council at Cypress and plays volleyball, basketball, and track. Shannen’s favorite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12 because “it reminds me that even though I am young, I can follow God with all of my heart and set an example for others. Shannen says “I love that there are so many people who truly have a heart for the Lord and that the environment CCS provides is so encouraging. It constantly pushes me towards Christ.” She would like to say “thank you to my parents for always loving me and giving so much for me, and I would like to thank my teachers and coaches for always positively pouring into my life. Thank you for everything.”

KING CANDIDATES
Tommy Glazier: This is Tommy’s fourth year at Cypress Christian. He is a member of Christ the Redeemer where he enjoys teaching Bible study and telling other people about the Word of God. Tommy is a member of our Warrior football team and he also plans to play golf this year. His favorite Bible verse is John 3:16 because it shows how much God loves us, He sent His only Son down to die on the cross for us to give us eternal life if we believe in Him. Tommy says “at CCS I feel the teachers really care about us and are always available to help out.” He would also like to say “Thank you for all the prayers during my injury, it meant the world to know everyone was praying for me.”

Paul Odeyomi: This is Paul’s sixth year at Cypress Christian. Paul is a member of The Redeemed Christian Church of God El Shaddai where he leads worship and works with the ushers. At Cypress, Paul is a member of the praise team and the Concert Choir and plays football, basketball, and track. His favorite Bible verse is Hebrews 12:1-2 because it reminds him that our goal is to make it to heaven. Paul says what he likes best is his friends and the great staff and the education he has received. Paul would also like everyone to know that he wants to play football in college.

Travis Wilhite: This is Travis’ thirteenth year at Cypress Christian. He is a member of The Met where he works in Tech Arts. At CCS, Travis is a member of the National Honor Society and Ambassador Council and plays football. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12. Travis says “it reminds me that I need to live out a good example that glorifies God during all situations.” What he likes best about CCS? “I like all of the friends that I have made and appreciate how the teachers sincerely care about the students.” Travis would like everyone to know that he will be attending Texas A&M next fall.
