High School Commencement Ceremony to be held on Friday, May 27

Cypress Christian School will hold its annual High School Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Cypress Bible Church in the Worship Center.  The church is located at 11711 Cypress N. Houston, Rd., Cypress, TX 77429.

Along with the awarding of diplomas to each of the 40 seniors, nine scholarships will be presented ranging in awards from $250 to $2500. A reception for graduates and families will be held in the gym of Building D, behind the Worship Center building, immediately after the service.

This year's commencement speaker is Daniel P. Moran, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Moran Enterprises, Inc. Dan Moran is the founder of Moran Enterprises, Inc., serving as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. In addition, Mr. Moran spearheads Plaza Construction’s Texas Regional Office, based in Houston, TX. Plaza Construction is one of the nation’s foremost construction management and general contracting firms headquartered in New York City. Mr.Moran medically retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Captain after five and a half years of service as an infantry officer of Marines.

Mr. Moran earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University and a Graduate Certificate in Advanced International Affairs with a concentration in National Security from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. While an undergraduate student at Texas A&M, Dan was a member of the Corps of Cadets, The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, Ross Volunteers, SEAL Platoon, and served as the Combined Band Commander his senior year in the Corps. He has also participated in the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School, and earned a Graduate Certificate in Finance from Tulane University. Dan is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University, and will graduate in May 2012.

Mr. Moran is a combat decorated veteran who served in the Global War on Terror as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart, Navy CommendationMedal with Valor, Navy Achievement Medal with Valor, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Dan is a member of the Hope for the Warriors Board of Directors, a Spokesman for Helping a Hero, and a member of Marine 4 Life. In December 2010, Dan was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee, and in March 2011 he was appointed to serve as a State Commissioner on the Texas Veterans Commission.

Dan and his wife, Teal, reside in Cypress, TX with their three children Trey, Macy, and William.
