Hard Work Pays Off
Victory in Baytown
March 22, 2010
Varsity Softball came away with a well earned, hard fought victory in our contest with Baytown Christian. Superb defense won the day in this battle. With the score tight throughout most of the game, we leaned heavily on an amazing display of shoestring catches in the outfield and diving stops in the infield and masterful throw downs engineered between our catcher and shortstop eliminating a number of potential scoring opportunities for Baytown. Entering the 7th inning leading with a score of 6 – 4. Several players hustled their way on to first base setting the table for what would be the decisive blow. Down in the count 0 and 2, Lexus Van Pelt crushed the ball to the fence in right centerfield. Her All District sprinter speed proved to be too much for Baytown as she was able to make it around the bases for a first of the season, in the park homerun.
