Drama Presents Costumed Bible Character Monologues
September 8, 2011
Zacchaeus, Goliath, Moses, and several other familiar Bible characters were recently spotted in the elementary school hallways. High school drama students had prepared “Bible Character Monologues” to perform for their younger schoolmates. Several elementary classrooms received a visit from a costumed actor and enjoyed hearing a Bible story from a “personal” perspective. Each actor was accompanied by a “host,” who introduced the character and reinforced the lesson taught, and a “prayer team,” who remained outside the classroom to pray for the actor and for each elementary student hearing the lesson. Both the high school and the elementary students were blessed by the experience and hope to have more opportunities to share their gifts with each other again soon.
Elementary students wrote letters of thanks to the "bible characters" to show their appreciation:
- "Dear Goliath and Moses: Thank you for performing the story from the Bible. I liked it. It was funny. Love, Melanie"
- "Dear Goliath and Moses, I loved your drama performance. Please do another. My favorite part was when Goliath said, 'Mama, I got a boo boo.' " Trevor
- "Dear High School Drama Class, Thank you for coming to perform in front of us. I think the performance was awesome. Plus, your performance was so awesome that I wish you were on t.v.!" Moriah
