Chamber Choir Earns Gold at Heritage Music Festival

March 29, 2010

After a smooth trip (thank you Dr. H. for driving!), dinner on the Riverwalk and fellowship back at the hotel, the Chamber Choir woke up very early Saturday morning to get on the road, grab some breakfast and arrive at the performance venue for warm-up. Despite an early morning and being the first group to perform, they were able (with the Lord’s strength) to sing a solid performance. Thank you Mrs. Eddy for accompanying! Dr. Deen Entsminger from Belmont University conducted an onstage clinic with the choir working diction and musicality details. This clinic was invaluable as they prepare for State in April!

After the performance segment, the choir transitioned to Fiesta Texas where they were able to ‘let their hair down’ and ride roller coasters until the Banquet and Awards Ceremony. This proved to be the most high-energy and entertaining part of the trip! At 7pm the choir members and chaperones gathered in the pavilion at Six Flags along with about 900 other instrumental and vocal students, ate dinner and listened as they announced the awards.

The Chamber Choir received a 93 average rating from the adjudicators (0-100 scale) earning a Gold (Superior). In the division of 1A Chamber Choirs, the Cypress Chamber Choir ranked 1st! The choir members went on as many celebratory rides as they could in the remaining 25 minutes of the evening! Back on the bus, the students thanked their Lord, the Creator, for all of the success, giving Him the glory.

After a devotional led by Josh Rodriguez and Jonathan Davis Sunday morning, the choir said farewell to San Antonio and traveled back to CCS (with the ever-important stop at Buc-ee’s).

Thanks to the parents who willingly drove and supported us when anything was needed! Praise be to God for His protection and His provision. To Him be all of the honor!
