Exciting Year Ahead

What an exciting year the Lord has in store for CCS choir students! CCS’s new Choir Director, Mr. Horn, has some ambitious plans for them, both in the fall and spring semesters:

  • Fall Banquet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Houston on October 7, 2011
  • Veteran’s Day program in November with patriotic hymns and anthems to salute America’s heroes
  • Singing to the residents of Ainsley Courte during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season
  • Singing to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital in Vintage Park for the Christmas season
  • Two fundraisers – Car Wash on October 29 and Bake Sale (date to be announced)
  • CCS Annual Christmas Concert on December 15, 2011 at Cypress Bible Church
  • Spring Competitions and Concerts

In addition to all the wonderful activities, Mr. Horn is also arranging some extra opportunities for CCS Choir, including contacting 89.3 KSBJ to have the Chamber Choir sing live on the radio!

CCS choir students have a long-standing tradition of competing in the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) competition and the Heritage Festival. Now, TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association) will be added to that list with the first CCS contestant. TPSMEA provides exciting choral opportunities for those who compete, including scholarship opportunities towards college.

Your Prayers and Support Needed!

A Car Wash will be held on October 29, 2011 at the Walgreens at Cypress N. Houston Rd. and Jones Rd.  Also, a Bake Sale is planned with date to be announced soon. Please pray for successful fundraisers, and that choir students use these ventures not only as an opportunity to raise funds for the choir, but also to minister to the public in their service. The organization hopes to raise $2,000, which would completely cover the cost for the Heritage Festival in March of 2012.

Any funds raised above $2,000 would help the choir purchase a new computer projector, which would reduce the paper and transparency files as they move Praise and Worship Music to a more digital format. In addition, Mr. Horn hopes to purchase additional music for upcoming programs, and a proper filing system for the current choral library.

Project 2011-2012 – New Sound System

Finally, CCS and the Choir Department hope to upgrade the sound system in the Multi-Use Facility. Plans are to purchase a better speaker arrangement (that supplies enough power to adequately project the sound in the facility), drop-down projector screens and projectors, new microphones for the Praise and Worship team, and a drum screen (to balance the sound during worship). These changes would transform the Multi-Use Facility into a powerful environment for worship services, workshops, competitions, and other activities at CCS, including our annual Blue & White Night. We ask for your prayers and support in this exciting venture!
