Biology Workshop Awarded to Secondary Teacher Robert Cook
06/28/10
Congratulations to Secondary Science Teacher, Mr. Robert Cook! He was selected to participate in the teachers’ workshop, co-sponsored by The BioLogos Foundation and Point Loma Nazarene University, in San Diego from August 1-8, 2010. This week long workshop will give him the opportunity to work with and learn from Christian college faculty in biology and biblical studies. He will study with other Christian high school teachers from across the country while focusing on one of biology’s most fascinating and rapidly emerging sub-disciplines—Developmental Biology. For his participation, Mr. Cook will receive a stipend of $1,000, travel expenses to Southern California, free room at a hotel on San Diego Bay, free meals, and if desired, one unit of graduate university credit for the entire 12 month educational opportunity.
Point Loma Nazarene University is an evangelical liberal arts college of about 2,300 students with an especially strong program in biology and chemistry. The BioLogos Foundation was founded by world-leading geneticist and noted Christian, Dr. Francis Collins. Its mission is to explore, celebrate, and promote the harmony of modern science and the Christian faith. BioLogos is heavily involved in: 1. Writing books that promote harmony between evangelicalism and science; 2. Preparing supplemental curriculum materials for Christian schools; and 3. Facilitating dialogue amongst the scientific and faith communities through its website.
