American Festival
October 12, 2011
CCS welcomed friends and parents to the annual American Festival. This event provided the opportunity for each of our fifth grade students to perform an originally and independently written dramatic monologue based on the life of a Civil War character chosen by the student. Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and many other important personalities were remembered in this festival. Fifth graders have taken this opportunity to learn how in the midst of the sadness and destruction of the Civil War our Lord was working to make America a better and stronger nation. After the students performed, they enjoyed a sweet time of fellowship with the words of Romans 5:3-4 in mind, “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
