Blog Post 9/13/2011

"I can’t believe that I’m a senior! The last three years have been some of the best of my life, and I am shocked that I am beginning my last year here at HBU. I am not ready to leave—I guess it’s good that I have two more semesters here!

First, let me tell you a little bit about my last college summer! Even though I didn’t take classes, I was at HBU a ton. I was a SOAR leader for the second summer in a row. SOAR is the freshman orientation and registration that happens every June. It is awesome because you get to meet all of the incoming freshmen, help them figure out what they want to do, and sign them up for their classes. I love being a SOAR leader because you get to make friends with the new kids AND help them make friends with each other.

On August 18th, HBU Welcome Days 2011 began! Welcome Days is an important part of the HBU legacy. It is where the incoming freshmen learn all of the HBU traditions like the alma mater and the hand signal. I’ve been a Welcome Days pack leader every year since my freshman year. This year’s pack will always have a special place in my heart because they are my last one ever.

Make sure to check my next blog post as I still need to tell you about my classes, the Honors College, Alpha Pi Kappa, Best Buddies, and my on-campus job!"

CCS Alumni Family Loses Loved One - Former CCS Student Chris Bhai

From the Bhai Family:

"A special thanks for the love, support, and prayers of the Cypress Christian School Family."

"Chris Bhai (former CCS student and brother to Nick Bhai, Class of ’03) went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of twenty-five. He lived his life as a servant, bringing laughter and joy to everyone he knew. He was a protector that was always ready to stand up for what was right. “‘topher” didn’t see the lines that most people are afraid to cross – he wouldn’t hesitate to help someone regardless of their background, and was ready and willing to help no matter what a person had done in their past. He loved to dance and was always there to cheer up anyone that was having a hard time. Even people that only met him once were deeply impacted by his positive personality. He was dearly loved and will be missed.

Due to the health issues he had struggled with since 2004, Christopher developed a desire to contribute to the well-being of the world around him. Christopher believed that one’s health cannot be separated from the health of the family, the community and the world. Donations can be placed at www.patchadams.org."
