A Team Defeats John Cooper

The A Team got its first win of the season by defeating John Cooper 29-23 in a thrilling middle school game. The Warriors fell behind early by 8 but came back to take a 16-8 lead at halftime. Taylor Gray tied the game early on a 1 yard run and then hit Davis Carver on a trick play for a 46 yard TD pass. Taylor Gray would go on to score two more rushing TDs and throw for 145 yards on 12 of 14 passing. The defense was anchored by Austin Muehlenbrock who recorded several tackles for loss as the defense played great. John Cooper was able to tie the game at 23 with 3 minutes to go but the Warriors had one more drive left in them. The final drive started with a 15 yard run by Gray and a 15 yard completion to Landrum. The next two big players were both wiped out by penalties. The Warriors handled the adversity and came up with a big completion on 4th down to keep the drive alive. Taylor Gray scored the games final TD a few moments later with a 32 yard TD run that featured some great blocks. The Warriors will take on Faith West next Thursday at CCS.
