7 Inning Thriller

March 29, 2011

Jordan Gray stepped to the plate with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th.  The Warriors were down by a run at 6 to 5 to a very good First Baptist Pasadena team.  Hunter Kocian had singled and Garrett Higginbotham had walked to put the winning run on base.  If you are not a fan of the Warrior baseball team you should be.  They have a pretty good string of playing in some great games dating back to last year, including an improbably run to the final four.  A past ball moved the runners into scoring position and moved the count to full. Twice early in the inning the Pasadena pitcher had used a very impressive curve ball to the strike out two Warriors at the plate.  This time Gray was ready as the curve ball hung a little high over the plate and he drove it squarely into left center.  Kocian scored easily and Higginbotham, with great speed on the bases, was waved home as he rounded third.  While the ball was field cleanly there was no chance of getting Higginbotham as he slid into home and the Warriors began to celebrate.  It was a beautiful night to watch the Warriors come from behind for a great 7th inning win.
