Classes
Sixth Grade Music
The 6th Grade Music Department at CCS is a great place to practice music as a form of worship to God! Every student has the opportunity to experience performance and various aspects of music theory and singing. Each semester the music class joins the sixth grade drama class to perform a musical in class. Most of all, each student will realize the importance of music as an act of worship.
Middle School Girls' Ensemble
This ensemble is open to any young lady in the seventh or eighth grade. They will learn correct and healthy vocal techniques, understand aspects of music theory and sight-singing and have the opportunity to perform various styles of vocal music in chapel, retirement homes and concerts at the end of each semester. Each class will focus on music as a form of worship to God.
High School Choir
In the Cypress Christian High School Choir, students have the opportunity to practice praising God with their voices. Students in the High School Choir learn correct vocal technique, sight-singing methods and various styles of music. Each year, choir students prepare for a concert at Christmas and participate in the TAPPS District Choral Competition in the spring. At the end of the year, students perform their competition repertoire at the Spring Concert.
Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir is an auditioned group composed of tenth-twelfth grade students. This select choir practices correct vocal technique, sight-singing methods and challenging repertoire. The Chamber Choir is highly performance oriented. Performances include singing the National Anthem for football games, numerous concert venues at school and in the community, TAPPS District Choral Competition and the Heritage Music Festival in San Antonio. As with the other choir groups, the Chamber Choir uses the powerful tool of music to bring glory to God.
Band
Beginining band class is set up so students can develop better skills and a better understanding of their particular instrument. This band plays in elementary worship at various times throughout the year.
The Jazz Band includes musicians with two or more years of experience on their instrument who are seeking to gain experience and a higher level of proficiency. This band plays at CCS sporting events throughout the years, and plays at various other school functions. This band includes a drumline group which plays at football games.
Worship Band members are student volunteers who know their instrument and have a heart for worship. They lead worship during weekly chapel services at school. These students understand the responsibility of being a "lead worshipper," realizing that the example they set each day is as important as how they lead each Wednesday.
