Art Classes

Middle School

Art students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to utilize and explore various art mediums both for 2-D and 3-D projects. Students will be able to showcase their talents when they enter the Rodeo Art Contest.  Projects use various mediums that teach elements of art and design.  The sixth grade art class is nine weeks long.  Seventh and eighth grade students have art for one semester.

Sixth Grade

Sixth graders work on watercolor landscapes drawn in one point perspective; a self-portrait using a photo and the grid system; and figure drawing.

Seventh and Eighth Grade

Students learn basic drawing and use media such as pencil, pastel, pen, ink. Projects include still life to learn shape and form and line techniques.

High School

The High School Art Program at CCS strives to cover myriad areas of creative projects while students learn how to employ the creative problem solving process.  Students gain experience in the following areas:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • 2-D Media
  • 3-D Media

The curriculum is designed to teach students to develop observation and technical skills through experience with various approaches, styles, and techniques.  Nourishing the student's creative ability, fostering useful communication skills, encouraging self-discipline and persistence are all part of what students will be challenged to do as they are encouraged to be creative and think outside the box.

Within each class, there are opportunities for advanced students to work on independent studies appropriate for their skill level.

Art - Drawing

Bible for Art students or "B-Art" is a new program in which students study God's word and illustrate concepts and themes they encounter.

Arts students have the opportunity to work in a variety of media which can be entered in various art competitions throughout the year (TAPPS).

Graphic Arts

Students use "Adobe In Design" curriculum. The class is taught by Coach Bretz who has a degree in Commercial Art from Oral Roberts University and has worked as a graphic artist.
