Operation Christmas Child - Fall 2010
The Power of a Simple Gift
“Everyone loves to receive gifts. During the Christmas season, we celebrate the most special gift of all—God’s Son, Jesus Christ.” These are the words of Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. The students of Cypress Christian School are once again choosing to share the ‘good news of great joy’ (Luke 2:10) with children around the world through the Operation Christmas Child project sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse.
This year, millions of children will experience Christmas joy when they received gift-filled shoe boxes and hear the Gospel message through Christian literature and follow-up discipleship programs.
Over the course of several weeks, each CCS elementary class will be assembling two boxes, one for a boy and one for a girl, which will be sent overseas. Each student will be assigned a small item that they are encouraged to bring to school between October 7 and October 19 to place in the boxes in their homeroom classes. These boxes will be wrapped, taken to a local shipping center, and then sent to another country. Students are also encouraged to bring to school one dollar to help with shipping costs for these boxes. Our students will then be praying for the recipients of these gifts.
The response to this project last year was overwhelmingly positive. Both the students and the parents were blessed. Many families even packed their own box. Families that are interested in putting together their own box are encouraged to see Mrs. Adam, our elementary secretary, for more information. Families that assemble their own boxes and would like for them to be mailed along with the school must have them to the school by October 29th.
"This is a wonderful way for our students to help send the gospel message to a child in another country," said Elementary Principal Robert White. "Please join us as we pray for the children who will be receiving these gifts and for their families."

Elementary Service Project - March
Students collected peanut butter and jelly for Cypress Assistance Ministries.
February Love Gifts
Elementary students celebrated the official "love" month by giving back to others.
- Kindergarten students and chaperones visited residents of Emeritus at Cy-Fair - Assisted Living and Alzheimer's Care in Houston, Texas.
- First graders traveled to Ainsley Court Assisted Living Facility. They sang Bible songs and played Bingo with residents. Before leaving, students gave out lots of hugs and Easter treats to the senior citizens.
- Fourth grade students also traveled to Ainsley Court Assisted Living Facility and enjoyed making new friends!
Second, third, and fifth grade students combined efforts to complete a special project for U.S. Soldiers serving in Iraq. The brother-in-law of fifth grade teacher Miss Przbyszewski is serving in Iraq. Care packages were assembled and shipped to his platoon. Many of the platoon members are non-believers or young in the faith, so this was a good opportunity to reach out to them. The care packages included Valentine's cards with scripture and donated food items with pre-printed scripture labels attached to each snack. The students and teachers prayed over the boxes before shipping them to the soliders. Thanks to the parents who provided monetary funds to mail the packages.
