Admissions Policies of Cypress Christian School
The following policies apply to students seeking admission to CCS:
- At least one parent must give a written account of how they came to know the Lord and be in agreement with CCS Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
- Students must have a record of good behavior entering grades 1-12.
- No student who is currently suspended, expelled, on academic or disciplinary probation, or required to attend an alternative learning center may be considered for admission to CCS.
- Students in grades K-3 are given the Gesell School Readiness Assessment to determine developmental age and proper placement.
- Students must demonstrate a capacity to academically succeed at CCS on the Reading and Math sections on the Stanford Achievement Test administered by a CCS examiner. Achievement scores from previous school will be accepted for consideration if taken within one year of application date. (TAKS does not meet our achievement test requirement.)
- A family interview is conducted with parent(s) or guardian(s). Students and both parents in grades K-12 are required to attend the interview. After the interview, the Admissions Committee will review all paperwork and determine admittance or denial of admittance. Decisions by the Admissions Committee are final.
- No provisions are available for children requiring special education. The school's Learning Center does, however, provide assistance for some learning differences. (Additional fees are charged for these services.)
- The application process may take a minimum of two weeks to complete. Some applications may take longer to process depending on testing and scheduling needs. The Admissions Office will make every effort to expedite each application.
- Applicants transferring from a high school not regionally accredited by TEA, SACS, or other state or regional accrediting agency or transferring from home-based instruction must take and pass a credit-by-exam test in every course for which they wish to receive credit. (Additional fees are charged for these services.)
- Applicants must be free of severe learning or behavioral difficulties. A limited number of students with learning difficulties, capable of success in a traditional classroom and meeting all CCS admission requirements, may be eligible for the NILD (Discovery) program. NILD students are average to above average in intelligence and ability. Applicants for NILD must submit results from recent educational diagnostic testing or submit to NILD testing through CCS. (Additional fees are charged for these services.)
