Eighth Grade Visits State Capitol

Eighth Grade Visits State Capitol

What an incredible day! The eighth-grade class made their way to Austin on Wednesday, February 6 for a trip to the Texas State Capitol. On the field trip, students had the opportunity to tour the Capitol building and visit with Representative Tom Oliverson.

The visit with Representative Oliverson took place in the gallery of the House of Representatives. The room was buzzing with excitement as a meeting of the House Judiciary Committee had just ended. Representative Oliverson also took the time to explain his role as a representative. He talked to the students about laws and how bills are presented in the House. He was also gracious enough to answer questions from our students. It was a busy day at the Capitol building and we are thankful that Representative Oliverson took the time to speak to our students.

After visiting the Capitol building and lunch on the Capitol grounds, students visited the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. The Bullock Museum showcases the great story of Texas and students enjoyed every bit of it.

The trip was a success. Students were wonderful tourists, who were curiously engaged throughout the entire trip.
