Welcome to 2008-2009 CCS Warrior Athletics
"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him." I John 5:14-15
Welcome to Cypress Christian, "Home of the Warriors!" 2007-2008 was an exciting year here at CCS in the area of athletics as we began a rebuilding process with many young teams. Shanay Briscoe, sophomore, won State in Shot Put and High Jump, once again setting a new state record in the High Jump with a jump of 6' 0". She went on this summer to go even higher and has qualified for the US Olympic Trials at the end of June. Be praying for her! We are so proud of her. We also had other All State athletes in track and field, volleyball, football, baseball, and softball!
Again, we must raise our banner high and continue the tradition of God-honoring sports programs here at CCS. We are confident that this is His program and our walk as coaches, athletes, and fans must be pleasing in his sight.
As you view our athletic department and all that we have to offer, we trust that you will join with us in making the commitment to honor God through athletics, in our mission to train our students to be the Godly leaders God has called them to be, and our values that will build a steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word.
As you become a part of the CCS family, have faith in our programs and our coaches. Allow us to train your sons/daughters, allow us to minister to their physical needs. Realize that the big picture the coach sees may not be the same picture you see, but again, trust. As parents, we want and need your support and encouragement. As coaches, we are prepared to work with each and every athlete, to teach teamwork, to work to win the prize, to teach them how to overcome obstacles, and to be a success.
Remember that we follow the Matthew 18 principle, and each of our coaches are more than willing to listen at the right time, in the right place, and when given in the right spirit.
We are praying for you to become a part of Warrior Athletics. We appreciate your support and we are looking forward with great anticipation to the new school year as He "lights" our way.
In His Service,
Marsha Martin,
Athletic Director
Athletics
Cypress Christian School offers an active program of team and individual sports for all ages. Students ages 5-13 may participate in soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, or softball through the Cypress Creek YMCA. Teams are organized at school so classmates play together and are often coached by parents in the school.
Students in grades 6-8 compete in tackle football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and track and field against other area Christian and private schools as a member of the North Houston Athletic League(NHAL). Cheerleading is available for girls in 7 & 8th grade.

Athletic Philosophy
The primary aim of all athletic endeavors will be to prepare students for service to their Lord.
- We will pursue excellence in athletics with a Christ-like attitude.
- We believe that many important lessons necessary to prepare students to fill leadership positions in society can be gained from participation in athletics.
- We will remember that athletics can be a very visible testimony to the and will approach all activities as opportunities to provide a witness worthy of our Lord.
- Concepts of commitment, sacrifice, humility, and teamwork will be emphasized. Individual achievement will be recognized, but always secondarily, to team achievement.
- Participation in athletics will be a privilege available to those students who meet academic and behavioral performance criteria.
Participation Requirement
All middle and high school students wishing to participate in the Cypress Christian School extra-curricular athletic program must have a current Cypress Christian School Sports Physical/Parent Permit Form filed with the school office before attending any practice and/or competing in an event.
Academic Eligibility
If the student is failing a subject when reports cards are issued, he or she may continue to practice but becomes ineligible and cannot play in a game/meet for a period of three weeks, beginning at 7:45 a.m. on the first day of the next nine weeks to 7:45 on the fourth week of the next reporting period.
Please remember parents, that you can check grades each week on Renweb this year. This should help all of us remind the students to stay on top of things.
