Librarian Jeanine Carthey holds a BS in Education from Texas Tech University, a M.Ed. in Reading from Stephen F. Austin and a Library Learning Resources Endorsement from Sam Houston State University.  She has five years teaching experience and eight years experience as a School Librarian.

Elementary students visit the library once each week and are free to come at other times if they need to check out a book or return one.   “Open Library” is offered two afternoons a week where students can come to the library to read and browse for a book without their class.

Throughout the year, a variety of Library Reading Incentive Programs are held - which the students really enjoy:

  • Second graders participate in the Super Bowl Reading Incentive Program and Grades K-3 enjoy “Batty for Books."  When students complete the program, they may return to the library and choose a prize from the treasure chest.
  • One of the favorite programs is “Lunch in the Library with Two Friends."
  • Fourth and fifth grades currently participate in "Accelerated Reader"
    (more grades will be added)
  • All K-5 students enjoy Book Week and Book Fairs
